For the past 18 months, a Labrador named Emmy has made it a daily ritual to visit her next-door neighbor, Linda Rose — and the routine has become popular online after being documented in a viral video.
According to the video’s narration from Emmy’s owner, what started as occasional friendly visits gradually turned into a full daily tradition. Rose was won over enough by the routine that she installed a custom, low-mounted doorbell specifically at Emmy’s height so the dog could ring it herself. Emmy has since been trained to press the bell whenever she wants to be let inside.
In the widely shared clip, Emmy is shown wearing small protective boots on her front paws, which her owner explained help prevent her from accidentally scratching Rose’s door during her enthusiastic visits. Once let inside, Emmy is greeted warmly, with her owner noting her confident tail-wagging is a reliable sign that Rose is home and happy to receive her.
The video struck a chord with viewers, many of whom commented on the evident affection between the dog and her neighbor, with some specifically praising Rose for going out of her way to accommodate Emmy’s daily visits with a purpose-built doorbell.
