Editorial Policy
Last updated: 07.24.2026
At Smashology Media, our credibility depends on the accuracy and integrity of what we publish. This Editorial Policy outlines the standards we hold ourselves to, how we handle sourcing and verification, and what readers can expect from us when we get something wrong.
1. Our Editorial Standards
We report on trending news, viral stories, and internet culture, but “viral” does not mean “unverified.” Every story we publish is expected to meet the same basic bar:
- The events described must be real and independently verifiable
- Named individuals, organizations, dates, and locations are accurate to the best of our knowledge at time of publication
- Claims are attributed to their original source, whether that’s a news outlet, court record, official statement, or firsthand account
- We do not publish fabricated events, invented quotes, or speculative claims presented as established fact
2. Sourcing and Attribution
Wherever possible, we link directly to primary sources — original reporting, court documents, official statements, or the platform where a story first appeared. When we rely on secondary reporting, we credit the outlet that broke or verified the story. If a claim cannot be traced to a credible source, it is not published, or it is clearly labeled as unverified.
3. Fact-Checking Process
Before publication, articles are reviewed against their cited sources to confirm names, dates, locations, and key facts are represented accurately. Where sources conflict with one another, we note the discrepancy in the article rather than presenting one version as definitive.
4. Corrections and Updates
We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently:
- Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are fixed without a formal notice
- Substantive corrections (factual errors, misattributed quotes, incorrect names or dates) are noted at the bottom of the article, along with the date of the correction and a brief description of what changed
- Significant errors that could affect a reader’s understanding of a story will prompt a visible correction notice at the top of the article
To report a suspected error, contact us at edin@smash-ology.com with a link to the article and a description of the issue. We review all correction requests.
5. Editorial Independence
Our editorial content is produced independently of advertising. Advertisements displayed on this Site, including those served through Google AdSense, do not influence which stories we cover or how we report them. Sponsored or promotional content, if published, will be clearly labeled as such and will never be presented as independent reporting.
6. Author Accountability
Every article on this Site is credited to a named author, listed at the top of the piece with a link to their author profile. We do not publish articles under generic, fabricated, or anonymous bylines.
7. Use of AI Tools
We may use AI-assisted tools to support research organization, formatting, or drafting efficiency. AI tools do not replace human editorial judgment, fact-verification, or the named accountability of our authors. No article is published without human review of its sourcing and accuracy.
8. Sensitive Topics
When covering stories involving crime, tragedy, or vulnerable individuals, we aim to report factually and avoid unnecessary sensationalism. We do not name private individuals in connection with unverified allegations, and we exercise particular care with stories involving minors or ongoing legal proceedings.
9. Reader Feedback
We welcome reader feedback, including disagreement with our coverage or requests for clarification. All correspondence sent to edin@smash-ology.com is reviewed by our editorial team.
