A Texas Roadhouse hoax that spread rapidly on Facebook has been debunked by the restaurant chain, which says an internal and third-party forensic investigation turned up no evidence to support the claims.
The viral allegation
The viral post alleged that a group calling itself “White and Proud” was tampering with Black customers’ food at Texas Roadhouse and sister chain Logan’s Roadhouse locations. Company PR director Travis Doster said the investigation found “no evidence whatsoever” to support the allegations, calling the claims “essentially a hoax.”
Fact-checkers agree
Fact-checking site Snopes rated the claim unfounded, and the original Facebook account behind the post was found to be suspicious and has since been deleted. The chain says it takes food safety and customer treatment seriously and continues to monitor for copycat posts as the claims keep resurfacing across social media.
