Editorial Policy

Smashology Media publishes coverage of internet culture, technology, entertainment, news, crime, and widely discussed public events. This policy explains how we select, source, review, update, and correct our work. It applies to editorial articles published on this website.
1. Purpose and Story Selection
We aim to publish articles that give readers useful context, verifiable information, and a clear path to the underlying sources. A topic being popular or viral is not sufficient on its own. We consider whether we can add explanation, organize reliable information, correct confusion, or otherwise provide value beyond repeating an existing report.
We do not knowingly publish fabricated events, invented quotations, or speculation presented as established fact.
2. Sources and Attribution
When an article relies on outside facts, we aim to identify and link the most relevant sources. We prioritize primary or authoritative material when it is available, including official statements, court or government records, research, primary documents, direct company announcements, and original public posts.
Secondary reporting may be used when it provides reliable verification or necessary context. In those cases, the publication is credited and linked. Allegations, estimates, and disputed accounts are attributed to the person or organization making them. A source’s claim is not presented as an independently established fact unless it has been adequately verified.
3. Review and Fact-Checking
Before publication, the responsible editor reviews the article’s central claims and checks important names, dates, locations, quotations, and links against the available sources. When credible sources conflict, the article should describe that uncertainty instead of silently choosing one account.
Edin Pula is currently responsible for reviewing and publishing Smashology Media articles. He oversees sourcing, fact-checking, corrections, and editorial standards.
4. Authorship and Accountability
Articles display a named byline linked to an author profile. The byline identifies the person accountable for the article’s editorial review and publication. We do not use fabricated or anonymous author identities.
5. Corrections and Updates
Readers should be able to understand when important published information has changed:
- Typographical, formatting, and other changes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a formal notice.
- A material factual correction is accompanied by a dated note explaining what was wrong and what was changed.
- If an error substantially affects the meaning of an article, a prominent correction or update may also be placed near the beginning.
- New information may be added as an update, with the article’s modification date shown where the site supports it.
We do not remove a material correction note merely because the underlying text has been fixed. To report a suspected error, use our Contact Us page or email contact@smashology.com with the article link, the disputed passage, and any supporting source.
6. Earlier Content
Some earlier articles are being reviewed to improve their source links, context, and clarity. If that review identifies a factual error, we correct it using the standards above. An older article remaining online does not prevent us from updating it when better information becomes available.
7. Editorial Independence and Advertising
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertising. Advertising partners do not determine which stories are selected or what conclusions an article reaches. Any sponsored or promotional material will be clearly identified so it is not confused with independent editorial coverage.
8. Use of AI-Assisted Tools
AI-assisted tools may support tasks such as organizing research, formatting, or drafting. They are not treated as factual sources and do not replace human editorial responsibility. Names, dates, quotations, claims, and cited sources must be checked by the responsible editor before publication.
9. Sensitive Subjects
Coverage involving crime, tragedy, minors, or other vulnerable people requires particular care. We attribute allegations, respect the distinction between an accusation and a conviction, avoid unnecessary graphic detail, and do not identify private individuals in connection with unverified allegations without a clear public-interest reason.
